The blogosphere is an interesting place. Couple a great track with a little bit of mystery and it quickly becomes atwitter (see Die Antwoord). Earlier today Gorilla Vs. Bear posted a track from Cults, who have (apparently) released a digital 7”. From there it slowly rolled along the internet, picking up buzz, and then ran into Pitchfork, and then it went global. Inevitably.
Prior to hitting Gorilla Vs. Bear, the only mention there is about this band is a short post on Feb. 25th on The Willowz Facebook page. Similar to the GvB post, there’s no additional information.
I’m sure within the next two days, we’ll have all the information about this crew and then some, but meanwhile, all you bands out there take note:
Step One: Make a good track.
Step Two: Make sure no one can trace it back to you.
Step Three: Profit.
If I had to guess I’d say that we’re either looking at a side project of some members of The Willowz (conspiracy!) or a band that’s friends with them. Either way, it’s good, it’s free, it’s more mysterious than Antonio Banderas, and it’s below.
